After creating the brand visual style for Ice Cream on Fair, we had the opportunity to design some murals to be painted on the outside of the building. The building location is where three local Santa Cruz ice cream brands are made; Marianne’s, Polar Bear and Treat. Learning how hand-painted signs are done, was such a fun experience. To make the magic happen, we worked with Kyle over at JuiceBox Sign Co., right here in Santa Cruz, CA. He’s been doing this, in the same tradition as many others before him. The only real addition might be the projector, which he uses to project the template to a wall, which he then traces. Other than that, the by-hand tradition is the same.
